As leader it was her duty to look out over the cats of ShadowClan, and although she was generally very busy, the russet leader made it a point to observe every cat from the oldest elder to the newest kit with care and attention. Rosestar was not impervious to the fact ShadowClan has its issues among its warriors, now as well as in the past. She believed StarClan had a destiny for every cat, even if that lead them to the clan, like young Greypaw, or if it lead them outside the clan like Bearclaw, or Leaftalon, both for very different reasons and circumstances.
So when she noticed Rookjaw had the mixed scent of Fourtrees on his fur, she couldn’t help but get a little curious. Was he having a clandestine meeting with another cat? She supposed it was far too early for him to be building up a romance after his dead mate. After all, Rosestar knew this well, she would give Iceclaw all the space he would like after her sister’s death before insinuating she herself still had feelings.
Not wanting to be too particularly nosy, Rosestar jumped down off of her sunny position on the High Boulder to find Rookjaw in the camp clearing. There were few warriors who would turn down a request of their leader, and the dark-colored tom was not one of them. “Would you like to walk with me Rookjaw? I would like some company hunting birds. It’d be nice to get some feathers for Doverain’s nest.”
Rosestar padded ahead, watching the tom over her shoulder with a flicker of her bright green eyes. As soon as they were out of earshot, she approached him casually, her low voice calm and soothing, not angry in the slightest.
“Is something bothering you, Rookjaw? I can see something’s on your mind… and smell that you’ve been to Fourtrees recently.” Rosestar mewed with a bit of a laugh. “I visit Magpiestar there occasionally, the trees smell very different to ours. You don’t have to tell me if it’s too private, but if it’s going to affect your duty as a warrior of ShadowClan I would like to know.”
